iPod touch an Essential Travel Gadget

This is officially the first post on the gadget traveler  and to crown this moment I wanted to pick a device that the majority of you will know about; it is without doubt, currently one of the must have gadgets for traveling.

Now before you say, ‘no not another apple fanatic’, let me just say that ‘I am not an apple fanatic’, but I have to admit that the iPod touch is one great all round portable media player. The iPod touch has been out for several months and still its competitors have not been able to produce a true rival. So what makes the iPod touch such a good gadget to have for traveling:

1. Style - without doubt Apple produced an extremely stylish and desirable  player
2. Versatility - able to play music files, video and the included wifi means you are only a few key strokes away from keeping in tough with friends and relatives
3. Applications - Safari (web browser), YouTube, Mail, Stocks, weather, Notes, iTunes, Wifi Music Store and Maps
4. Available with 8GB, 16Gb or 32GB of disk space

The only downside for me regarding the iPod touch is the price, retailing for $299, $399 and $499 respectively.

Would I buy one?
If I was planning on traveling a lot in the coming year and I had the cash available, then yes. The iPod touch would be on my list of must have travel gadgets.
